Mónica Serrano, Product Development Manager at Vívaro Telecom, doesn’t just innovate from her desk—she also does it from her kitchen, where Patitas Gourmet was born: a family venture dedicated to creating healthy snacks for dogs and cats.
What began as a homemade solution to improve one of her pet’s health turned into a project filled with purpose, flavor, and heart.
Today, Mónica balances her corporate role with her entrepreneurial side, showing that passion and commitment can open unexpected paths… even the ones that wag their tails.
Little Paws That Led Me to the Heart of Entrepreneurship
I’m Mónica Serrano, and I’ve been part of Vívaro Telecom for over nine years, where I’m passionate about creating, innovating, and developing solutions for our clients every day.
But there’s another side of me that also creates, innovates… and cooks. Not for people, but for those who greet us wagging their tails or purring when we get home.
That’s how Patitas Gourmet was born — a project that started in my kitchen, with my two huskies and two cats as my first taste-testers.
It all began out of love: one of my dogs had hip problems and needed a special diet. So, I got to work preparing healthy snacks — high in protein and low in fat.
Little by little, I perfected the recipes, combining natural ingredients and always focusing on their well-being.
My daughters were the ones who gave me the final push. They said, “Mom, this isn’t just delicious — it’s a business!” And they were right.
We realized there aren’t many truly healthy options for pets on the market, so we decided to start a family venture together. That’s how Patitas Gourmet was born — from a family that loves animals and wants to share that love with others.
Today, we offer 100% natural snacks for dogs and cats. No preservatives, no weird ingredients — only what I would feed my own pets. And that, to me, is the most important thing.
Balancing my work at Vívaro as a Product Development Manager with this business has been a challenge — but also a wonderful adventure.
I do it outside of work hours, with the unconditional support of my family, who have become my team.
I’ve learned that consistency, dedication, and passion are key ingredients — just like in any good recipe.
My dream is big: I imagine food trucks for pets, where they can stroll around and be spoiled with a gourmet treat.
I also want our products to reach convenience stores so they’re accessible to everyone.
And yes, we’re already developing new lines: soft treats for senior dogs and a special concept for kittens.
If you’re thinking about starting your own business while working, here’s something from the heart: don’t be afraid. Start. Don’t leave it as just an idea.
Fight for your dream, one step at a time. And if it doesn’t work out right away, don’t get discouraged. What matters most is that it’s yours — that it excites you and that you do it with love.
