On the occasion of World Organ and Tissue Transplant Day, Vïvaro took its employees on an unforgettable encounter with Armando Salinas, a native of Monterrey who almost a decade ago gave life to a former schoolmate.
Every February 27, doctors and donors are commemorated and recognized; and, on this date, the appointment was made with this emotional meeting that, surely, sensitized our work team on this subject.
Armando told them, in the chat via Teams, about his closeness - since childhood and adolescence - with Ricardo Balderas, whom he now affectionately calls 'brother'.
It turns out that both, being students at the Instituto Regiomontano de la Salle, in different generations, continued contact through mutual friends.
And so it was that Armando learned of his former partner's health problem and the difficulties he experienced throughout his convalescence, as at least four kidney transplant attempts fell apart, at the last minute, along with his hopes.
In all these attempts, Armando helped him from a distance with prayers, until, in an act of courage and unequaled generosity, he decided to support him, giving him the organ he needed so much; and, with it, giving him the opportunity to see his little and only daughter grow up.
For Vívaro, it is important to orient his collaborators on this important topic. According to figures from the National Transplant Center, there were 20,159 people waiting for an organ or tissue last year. Of that number, 16,525 were waiting for a kidney.
We thank Armando for taking the time to share his story with us, it is truly heartwarming and inspiring!
