ALL ABOUT LABOR DAY

Let's review the reasons why this commemorative date was instituted around the planet

In Mexico, the working class enjoys labor holidays.

In 2024, there are eight non-working days in the same number of months.

The closest and most representative of the holiday calendar is May 1. But do you know exactly what is commemorated on this date? Here we will review it with you.

It was instituted as International Workers' Day or Labor Day, in commemoration of the repression suffered by the workers of the McCormick factory, during the month of April and May 1886, in Chicago.

At that time, the working hours of the American workers were extended up to 18 hours, so the general demand began to decrease to eight hours of work for an equal number of time for rest; and an equal amount of time for leisure.

May 1, 1886 was the date from which the American Federation of Labor established that working hours should not exceed eight hours.

However, it was not until three years later when the Socialist Labor Congress of the Second International declared May 1 as Workers' Day, to vindicate their rights in all countries.

That is why May 1st is a holiday in almost all the planet and is one of the holidays or commemorative days that do not change in the calendar, in order to further extend the weekends.

Enjoy your well-deserved rest and honor your labors!
