SINGING TO HELP

On an emotional evening, September 14, 2023, at the University of Monterrey auditorium, 22 local talents came together in "The Voice that Helps," an event that seeks to promote the work of the Jorge García Abaroa Scholarship.

This second edition, which had been postponed due to the pandemic, saw Michael Zenkl triumph with the melody "Fly me to the moon", winning as a prize a full day at the prestigious "Victoria Records" studio. Sisters Cecilia and Valeria Welsh, on the other hand, took second place, and Juan Manuel Hernández, the third.

Jorge de la Garza Flores, director of the program founded by his father, businessman Don Gustavo M. de la Garza Ortega, along with his wife Piyakamol Limpabandhu de la Garza, hosted the contest in the absence of the philanthropist, who is currently out of the country.

The jury was represented by Liz Orozco, Patricio Gómez Junco, Andreas Óstberg, and Jorge Luna.

This event once again demonstrated the commitment of the Jorge García Abaroa Scholarship to education and young talent. Since its inception in 2000, it has enabled more than 2,000 young people to complete their studies, reaffirming the importance of High School and Higher Education in Mexico.

The talented singers delighted an enthusiastic audience, and the audience had the opportunity to vote electronically for their favorites.

The evening concluded by reiterating the scholarship's purpose and the hope for a better future through education and art.
