Three consecutive days of contests, tournaments, and geek activities in collaboration with Ace League.
Thousands of attendees took part in the dozens of scheduled activities.
The Oasis Palm Hotel in Cancun, Quintana Roo was the venue where Geek Fest Cancun 2022 was held in the company of Ace Esports League, where the International Champion of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (SSBU), proud Mexican, MK Leo, won the specialty tournament that took place from June 3 to 5.
During the tournament, organized and broadcasted thanks to Ace Esports League, the largest esports league in Latin America, attendees enjoyed a top-quality broadcast, which, in the words of the world champion himself, MK Leo, managed to capture the public’s attention, including people who do not like SSBU.
Among the participants who raised the level of competition of this tournament was the world’s top 2 player, Spargo (also of Mexican origin), member of team Faze. Likewise, voice talent was fulfilled with Hungry Box’s presence, SSBU's number one streamer and member of team Liquid, who pointed out the "good vibe" that was felt during the event and highlighted the organizers’ love for the game and expertise, demonstrated through their impeccable organization.
In addition to Hungry Box, the national voice talent left its mark with Colt’s experienced participation, wearing his distinctive luchador mask; the always funny and successful Nero, who along with Toon and Roy, among others, entertained with commentary throughout the Geek Fest Cancun 2022 tournaments.
Another one of the players who competed for first place in this tournament was one of Mexico’s top 5 players, Bigboss, from team MK and MP, who expressed his bewilderment at his lower than usual performance. However, he shared Shinymark’s, from team Shory's, surprise at the average level show by the tournament’s competitors, especially its finalists.
The Geek Fest Cancún 2022, in addition to the exciting esports tournaments, also featured dozens of activities such as karaoke and Kpopmania dance tournaments; cosplay contests full of anime characters; a great geek party; culinary events, conferences, short combat battles, among many other activities.
Among the special guests from the geek world were Beto Castillo, whose body of work includes the voice of Doctor Strange, of Maui in “Moana”, Luke Skywalker in “Star Wars”, among many others. He signed hundreds of autographs and took photos with his followers. Lalo Garza, dubbing actor whose highlights include Krillin from “Dragon Ball”, Elmo, Gaara from “Naruto” and Xander from “Drawn Together” among many others, also attended.
Other important guests were the "Banana Cospboy" world champions, who among katanas, kimonos, pins, stickers, and fans, enjoyed this Geek Fest Cancun 2022. The fest will return next year and bring together the best in gaming, dubbing, cosplaying, anime and more.
