VÍVARO TELECOM DEPLOYS THE FIRST 600G LONG DISTANCE NETWORK IN MEXICO WITH CIENA

Coherent optical technology from Ciena (NYSE: CIEN) is being leveraged to support a new network connecting Querétaro, Mexico, to McAllen, Texas. The network, which helps content suppliers and wholesale operators, allows Vívaro Telecom to offer interconnection services to low latency, high capacity data centers to reach speeds of up to 600 Gbps through long distances to satisfy the ever-growing demand for cloud-based video, data and content, which requires higher bandwidth.

“Vívaro has, for a long time, been a pioneer in the Mexican network business, and once again, we are elevating standards with the first long distance, 600G wave transporting network in the country,” shared Vívaro CEO, Gustavo M. de la Garza Flores.

“The explosive growth of cloud based data, video and apps has increased the need for agile, on-demand, ultra-high-bandwidth connectivity, and Ciena has enabled Vívaro to build a content network with the fastest speeds in the market,” added Isaías Alegría, Director of Technology at Vívaro.

Vívaro installed the flexible 6500 photonic line system powered by WaveLogic 5 Extreme to achieve multi-terabit capacity over a long-distance coherent optical network of more than 1,000 km, providing high fiber capacity without regeneration. With this deployment, Vívaro Telecom can instantly react to unpredictable traffic demands by scaling connectivity and capacity to support a wide range of applications and services – all while taking up less space in equipment rooms thanks to its compact footprint.
